Welcome to the most prestigious road event of the year. It is here that the South African Road Champion will be determined for 2010. It is our wish that this event will continue to grow and deliver not only South African Champions but also World Champions. These are exciting times at Cycling South Africa and we want you to be a part of it.

Our successful fundraising effort, in respect of the Lotto grant, is helping us bring Cycling to a new level of distinction. Increased focus on youth development and High performance we hope will pave the way for future Olympic medals. Innovative coaching programming is preparing our cyclists to thrive in an ever-changing, global cycling fraternity. Improvements to the way Cycling South Africa does business are ensuring that Cyclists will be treated fairly and the very best of Corporate Governance and fair play will be the order of the day. I believe our strong financial control will also be the foundation upon which Cycling in South Africa will grow.

If I may use this opportunity to also thank the many passionate volunteers who make cycling possible and a vibrant reality thank you for your valued contribution. I would also like to thank the Sponsorship by the City of Matlosana, better known to some of us as Klerksdorp and organisers of this event.

As everybody is aware, this year will see the appointment of the new CEO, and a chance to begin our commercialisation process which will culminate in greater value being offered to all our Cyclists. We have the strategy clear we now need the structure to deliver.
